About Course Reserves
Reserves are the books, articles, videos, and other materials that faculty members require for students’ course work. Physical materials, such as books and DVDs, generally check out for 3 hours, while electronic materials are available 24/7 through course sites.
For Users
To look up a Reserve items, use the link to Course Reserves at the top of the Library Catalog or search in SuperSearch. You can search either by your instructor’s name or by the department name and course number to see a list of items on reserve for your course. Be sure to write down the call number of the item you want.
Course Reserve List Submission Instructions for Faculty
For Clapp, Science and Astronomy Library reserves and video e-reserves:
- To submit a list of print materials to be placed on reserve, please use the Reserves Request Form.
- To submit a list of films to be digitized for e-reserve, please use the Video E-reserve Request Form.
To have materials put in the Art or Music Libraries, please contact Brooke Henderson or Carol Lubkowski.
Ordering New Material
If the library does not own the material that you need, please place an order using the Purchase Request form, and mark the item as “For Reserves”. Placing the order yourself will expedite the process and ensure that the correct item is requested. If the library cannot order the item in time, you may make arrangements to have your personal copy temporarily available for your students.
